We returned to the US in 1997 just in time for Matt's graduation from Luther College. We moved back into the house on Bluff Lake Drive in E. Peoria and got back into the swing of life in central IL. Matt soon moved to Chicago, Peg went back for a couple of years of teaching and we started seriously looking for a retirement location on Lake Superior.
True to my word of promising Peg her dream home in dream location on retirement we purchased a lake lot in Bayfield, WI and a small home in which to live while we built Peg's dream. After striking it rich on an architect we equaled that with our choice of Tim Brown Construction and had a great time contributing to the building of our dream home in 2003-04. Unfortunately Peg's Mom, Helen, never got to see the completed work on the house and passed away in January, 2004.
We have enjoyed the company and companionship of many new friends in Bayfield and have had time to participate in great travel adventures, fishing trips, skiing vacations and international travel with our friends and neighbors.
Peg had started developing her talent in choosing appropriate colors and materials for framing art and had attended a school in Vancouver BC while we were in Peoria and opened a photography and framing business in Bayfield to channel her interest in art and joined the local art guild before migrating to watercolor painting in her later years.
